The "Fixing" is the price of gold "24 carat", characteristic of classical ingots, which is identified in the course of trading on the Stock market values, according to the best balance between the amount of metal made available through retailers and that required by buyers.

This value, though it certainly affects the price, does not have much to do with the evaluation of gold jewelery, which has yet to assume the costs of processing, marketing and tax.
